Two Kids in Europe...
Come Along!
VENICE

Oh, forgot to mention.
We bought a pen and pad to help
us plan and a colorful fan to keep
us cool.
It's going to be busy and hot today.
Now we're ready to go.
When we first see Bella Notte she is walking in the street. When she sees us she scampers up the yellow pipe and finds a very secure spot to lie down.
We take turns fanning her
to help keep her cool in the heat.
We sing "Silent Night" to
help her sleep. It works!
Before we leave, we sing a song to our new friend:
Il gatto di Venezia:
"Good night Bella Notte.
Good bye Bella Notte, good bye.
Arrivederci."

Around noon we go to this really nice restaurant. It's so restful and cool inside. Our waiter pours us a peach aperitif. He is very friendly! We toast each other and our grandparents whom we call Nana and Baba.

After lunch we have a plan.
We go shopping - all by ourselves - at the Coop grocery store.
With our Euros we buy paper plates,
plastic knives, forks and spoons, napkins
and cups. We buy bread, bottled water, blueberries, strawberries, grapes, pears, apples, lettuce and some pastries.
When we get back to the hotel, we tell Nana and Baba to go and relax in their room. We will take care of everything. We prepare a late afternoon snack for them and they enjoy every bite!
We also write them a little note thanking them for taking us on this wonderful trip and hide it under their pillow. They are really going to like that, too!

This is our last night in Venice and we aren't done yet. We go shopping for masks. Oh, what fun we have. So many to choose from, so many colors, designs, shapes and sizes. Ellie buys the spooky plague doctor mask and Emma buys a fancy cat mask. We each buy several more. When we get back to the states, we'll wish we had bought more!
We can't wait to try them on and go downstairs to show our friends.
I love the gnocci! The restaurant looks so pretty behind me,
doesn't it?
I think you can tell that I like this pasta!
They want to know where we bought them and then rush out to buy some for themselves.
Rozanne puts up a schedule for each day.
In Venice we have plenty of time to go exploring on our own.
What are two girls without hats to do?
Go shopping, of course!
Pretty neat, wouldn't you say?
We walk the narrow alleys, climb stairs, cross canals, look at the sea and, best of all, find a stray black cat. We name her Bella Notte.
